This call was the rallying cry of the Almogavar warriors in 13th century Catalan (Spanish) history. Aur! Aur! Desperta Ferro! Deus Aie! Listen! Listen! Wake the Iron! God Help Us! Amazing people, who turned losing battles into wins. They were clear of purpose, they did not play to other people’s traditions, they did what it took to win, every time. They looked to each day with ferocity. Determined to do their utmost, before God, before they died. In this, I see a philosophy. Win or lose, go forward with ferocity, not fear and trembling. Do the best you can do. Don’t just fulfill the contract, own it. There is IRON in you, Wake it up!
